Honeymoon Cottage

County Meath, Ireland

spacer line

This is a small cottage, romantic and private.  Open the door into a large, beautiful open plan-living area and kitchen.  The living area has a comfortable sofa, two ottomans, an antique pine desk and a fireplace with a wood stove insert. There is satellite TV, a video/DVD player, a CD player, a radio, direct-dial phone and wireless Internet.

The kitchen area has a dishwasher, electric oven and stove top, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and a dining area on the kitchen counter. The adjacent utility room has a washer, dryer and toilet and basin.

The bedroom has a queen bed with a pretty, old-fashioned bedspread, a chest of drawers, an armoire. The en suite bathroom has a shower stall, a long, deep tub (maybe for two?), under-floor heating, heated towel rails and a hair dryer.

Honeymoon Cottage has a small, private garden.  The cottage is attached to Rose Cottage, but it's placed in such a way that you'd never be aware of your neighbor.

Unusual or interesting place in the area
Bettystown is a thriving village that has seen much development since the late 1990’s. It has a fine sandy beach and visitors and locals alike enjoy walking along it throughout the year. It has always been a haven for the weary city dwellers of Dublin, many of whom spend summers in the caravan parks. A long established seaside resort with a fine, sandy stretch of beach from Laytown to the mouth of the Boyne at Mornington. The world famous “Tara Brooch” dated 700AD was discovered on the beach in Bettystown. It is now kept in the Royal Academy Collection of the National Museum, Dublin. The quality of the craftmanship, the detail of its ornamentation and the preciousness of its materials all seem to indicate wealthy, if not royal origins.
