Clifden Harbour View House

County Galway, Ireland

spacer line

Enter the house via glass doors into a wide, bright hallway that has a floor made of the local granite and a nice antique hall table. To the right is the spacious living room. It is stylish and inviting and substantial. There are two comfortable black leather sofas, a coffee table, shelves holding a music system and many CD's and DVD's, a TV, DVD player, plants, art on the walls, a peat-burning fireplace that has a black granite hearth. Floors are South American Kampus wood, dark and rich walls are warm beige with crisp white wood work. Views are of the front lawn and the harbor and the hills beyond.

The very large eat-in kitchen is just behind the living room. One end of the room has a beautifully-crafted dark pine table and 8 chairs. The cooking area is on the other side of the room, a modern kitchen with granite counter tops, custom-made cupboards, some glass-fronted, a dishwasher, an extra-large refrigerator-freezer, an electronic hob and a wall oven. Walls are a nice gray-green with white cupboards and other wood work. This is a cook's kitchen that has all one could ever need or want. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large utility room that has a washer and dryer and excellent storage. French doors lead from the kitchen to a grassy area at the back of the house and, beyond that, to two raised wood decks that are for dining and lounging. These decks afford beautiful water views.

Back off the front hall, there is a bathroom that has a shower stall. Along the hall are three bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed with a pale yellow bedspread, a nice, modern chest of drawers, a clothes closet and orange carpeting. Windows face the back lawn area and hillside. This bedroom uses the hall bathroom. The second bedroom, larger than the first, also has a queen bed. There is a bookcase, a chest of drawers and a closet. Windows look to the back of the property. The en suite bathroom has a shower stall. The very large master bedroom has a queen bed, a chest of drawers, a large walk-in closet with shelves and space for hanging clothes, beige carpeting and light green-grey walls.

There's a state-of-the-art exercise bike for you to use. Views are of the front grounds and the harbor and mountains. The enormous en suite bathroom has a large shower with multiple shower heads and a 2-person bathtub. This is great house. It has a clear view of Clifden harbor. The owner has 14 Connemara sheep and many baby lambs grazing on his hillside behind the house - they do much to enhance the landscape. It's on 14 acres of lawns, meadow and woodland, yet it's only a flat, easy 5-minute walk (on sidewalks) into the center of Clifden village.

Children are warmly welcomed here. Pets are not allowed because there are sheep on the grounds.

This is a non-smoking property.

One thing visitors should not miss
The pretty village has many shops, authentic pubs (all smoke-free), superb restaurants and a very good food market. The scenery in the general area is some of the best in Ireland. The drive from Clifden to Mayo is so beautiful it will break your heart. It is 5 minutes by foot to a pebble beach. There is kayaking nearby and fishing within a few minutes of Clifden. You can rent a boat to go out to the Aran Islands.
